The Professional Media Master Class (PMMC) is an in-service or on-the-job program for media professionals who wish to professionalize themselves in a documentary film practice. The PMMC graduates form a strong network of artists in the region who deal with the complex issues of our time, are aware of their responsibility as opinion multipliers, are civically engaged and stand up for a solidary, fair and equal society with their projects and beyond.
For the films of the Professional Media Master Class 2022 we have spotted the English subtitles.

The ARD crime series Lauchhammer - Death in Lusatia is about the search for a murderer in six episodes. The story is told about a unique landscape around the small town of Lauchhammer and the lignite mining area, a region in transition and the people who are rooted there. Coming of Age is an interview based documentary film by Anna Maria Friedrich: Ruth was sent by her parents from Schmalkalden to the USA in 1939 to escape the Holocaust. In an exchange with Luai, who came to Schmalkalden from Aleppo as an unaccompanied refugee in 2015, a cinematic dialogue emerges about flight and arriving in a different society.
We provided bilingual subtitles for the film, and are currently distributing it to international festivals.

For the exhibition and curatorial intervention The Missed Seminar at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin and the permanent collection of the Albertinum in Dresden we did the subtitling and montage of exhibition clips.
The Missed Seminar re-activates archival material on the life, thought, writings, and relationships of Black feminist, anthropologist, and African American photographer Eslanda Robeson. Beginning with her friendship with German-Jewish Marxist philosopher Franz Loeser and their encounters in East Berlin in 1963, the curatorial study asks, What if their exchange had been the setting for a seminar? An exhibition and conversations unfold Robeson and Loeser's unfinished political aspirations and propose an intersectional blueprint on anti-fascism, Black feminism, and techno-politics.

At the Berufsbildungswerk Leipzig (BBW), young people can try out a profession, prepare for an education or complete an education. The BBW specializes in people with hearing, speech and language or other communication impairments.
For the image film, we accompanied the specialist trainee Katerina Trujillova and the trainee Oliver Beier. They give personal insights into the theoretical and practical training in their specialist areas, into support services and living and leisure activities at BBW Leipzig. The special features of the training become clear and the BBW is presented as an attractive place to learn and live.
For the low-barrier version, we used green screen technology to integrate the sign language interpreter into the video.

The Bauhaus Residency enables artists from all over the world to live and work in the historic master houses again. Between 2020-2021, we realized 4 films that accompany the invited artists in residence in their work processes. The films translate the encounters between original Bauhaus ideas and contemporary art into an audiovisual form.
The works created by the artist Sofia Dona and the writer and performer Mara Genschel bring the hidden foundations of everyday life to light: Sofia Dona devoted herself to the relationship between humans and animals, Mara Genschel to the claimed mastery of the historical Bauhaus.

In the Berufsbildungswerk, young people can try out a profession, prepare for an apprenticeship or complete an apprenticeship. The BBW specialises in people with hearing, speech and language or other communication impairments.
11 different training areas are portrayed in short videos. In each clip, trainees give very personal insights into their field and the special features of training at BBW become clear. The films were partly made with the involvement of the trainees. This gave the young people the opportunity to see themselves as an active and self-confident part of the film. The clips thus leave room for different focal points and yet follow a formal overall concept.
